Success Starts Here.
We like a challenge. That's why we love to hear
from all manner of businesses and organisations.
The Horse & Groom
The new owners of the Horse & Groom in East Ashling - a popular local pub with lodgings on the edge of the South Downs - were seeking a variety of copy for their completely redesigned website.
Following another copywriter's unsuccessful attempt at hitting the brief, we were drafted in to provide a more appropriate style of writing. Having undergone a complete refurbishment and boasting suitably homely surroundings together with beautiful guest rooms, the Horse & Groom was looking to re-establish itself as one of the finest pubs to visit in the area.
We were asked to keep copy succinct and informative, with a number of historic references added to provide a real insight into its past. It was also critical to highlight and describe specific decorative features, which are particularly noteworthy.
Working closely with renowned graphic designer, Lara Wilson (from Goose Lane), we were able to ensure the website's imagery and layout worked well with the new sections of text. The end result is a stunning website with enticing copy that really makes you want to experience the Horse & Groom for yourself.
A Unique Newspaper (Part 1)
When we were chosen by Goodwood to write a bespoke newspaper for a very special American guest and his extended family, it was a project that gave us a great sense of responsibility. Having stayed at the estate's Hound Lodge country retreat with a number of his relatives and friends in late 2019, it was to be an adventure they would go on to repeat in 2021.
He was keen to have something produced that could be read over breakfast on their first morning at Goodwood. The brief was very fluid and enabled us to approach this piece of work with a degree of creative flexibility. Tone of voice had to be informal, amusing and quintessentially English in style.
We compiled a selection of content comprising a cover feature, themed wordsearch, letters to the editor, quizzes and a report on the latest Brexit developments. The publication title - 'The United Estate of Goodwood' - was the perfect fusion of the guests' heritage and their home-from-home in West Sussex.
Hugh Bonneville (acting as College Master at the opening night's ball) was photographed and dropped into the design, before copies were produced at Fine Print then biked down overnight. The whole project took under a week from start to finish, and involved a great deal of research and organisation.
We received fabulous feedback from these VIP guests, who absolutely loved reading the newspaper. One of our most rewarding jobs to date.
Classical Riding Academy
A glowing recommendation from another contact led to being awarded this exciting project.
The Classical Riding Academy is an established riding school situated within the picturesque South Downs in West Sussex.
Whilst they were offering a high-quality service, the copy on their former website did little to motivate potential customers. It was extremely functional and mundane – in stark contrast to the actual experience that you would typically enjoy when visiting.
After meeting the CRA Founder, Natasha Olivant, on site to get a feel for their unique offering, we embarked on a mission to craft the perfect copy that would inspire a whole new audience.
Collaborating with their photographer and graphic designer, we ensured that our words would complement the range of striking new imagery, taking every reader on a truly memorable journey as they browsed the beautiful new site.
Natasha was suitably thrilled with the end product, and we were subsequently asked to work on a series of digital e-newsletters to help launch their new identity.
